CAIRS CMP Sponsor Program
As a CMP Sponsor, CAIRS will review and process applications from interpreters seeking both PINRA and course work related CEU credits to maintain RID membership. To potentially receive approval for CEU credits for either PINRA or individual course work, please complete and sign the appropriate applications (See Attached) as a first step in the review process. The Coordinator will then contact you to ensure efficient review and processing. Please submit all applications at least three weeks prior to the scheduled workshop, activity or course work to ensure proper processing. In addition, at the time of application submission, please mail a check or money order to CAIRS in the amount of $10.00. Please make out the check or money order to "CAIRS CMP Sponsor Program." Please feel free to forward all questions to the CMP Sponsor Program Coordinator at cmpsponsor@cairs.net
Please feel free to forward all questions to the CMP Sponsor Program Coordinator at cmpsponsor@cairs.net. How The CAIRS CMP Sponsor Program works
Outline of the steps for obtaining CEUs through CAIRS CMP Sponsor Program:
- Find an event you are interested in attending, or a topic you are interested in learning more about and gaining CEUs for. Events should not be something sponsored by RID or by a local state chapter of RID, but could include regional or national conferences on topics directly or indirectly related to interpreting, local workshops, college/university classes, anything which will benefit you as an interpreter!
- Fill out the appropriate application. Academic Coursework is usually anything offered by a local or online college, and the application can be submitted at any time as long as both the course and the application occur within the interpreter's current CMP cycle. An independent course work application or a PINRA Application for a workshop, seminar or other event NOT sponsored by RID or its affiliates, must be submitted at least 30 days before the event. Submit the application, along with the processing fee of $10.00 to CAIRS at 17 North State Street, Suite 1650, Attn: Michelle Host, CMP Sponsor Program Coordinator, Chicago, Illinois, 60602.
NOTE: If you'd like to do an independent study in any area, please send a request to cmpsponsor@cairs.net for more information on study individualized plans.
- The CAIRS CMP Sponsor Program Coordinator will review your application and send you an email with the approval status or requesting more information. When approval is given, you will receive an email confirming the number of CEUs and the category, either Professional or General Studies.
- Attend your event; increase your skills and knowledge as interpreter and (hopefully) enjoy yourself!
- Submit proof of attendance to CAIRS; a certificate of completion, a transcript, or documentation appropriate for an independent study. For PINRAS, proof of attendance must be submitted to cmpsponsor@cairs.net within one week of the event. CAIRS will file all paperwork with RID and send you a final email formally indicating the CEUs earned. Please make sure to retain your CEU confirmation e-mail and all other CMP documents for future reference.
