Since 1990, CAIRS has been professionally serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community in greater metropolitan Chicago. And, of the approximately 900,000 Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals residing in Illinois, almost half live in the Chicago area.

Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) gives rights of equal access to places of public accommodation. For Deaf and Hard of Hearing people, Title III requires businesses and agencies to remove many frustrating barriers to communication.

If you think you have been discriminated against in employment on the basis of disability after July 26, 1992, you should contact the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. A charge of discrimination generally must be filed within 180 days of the alleged discrimination.
