Non-Discrimination Statement
CAIRS prohibits discrimination in all its programs and activities on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, marital status, familial status, parental status, veteran status, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or associational preference, political beliefs, reprisal, or because all or part of an individual's income is derived from any public assistance program.

Online ASL education

CAIRS considers its support of professional interpreter education to be an essential long-term mission. The fact is that the interpreter community in Illinois must grow further in order to effectively satisfy the future needs of our Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community. CAIRS is prepared to act proactively in supporting the expansion of interpreter training resources, to include the continued funding of training workshops and development of a structured mentoring program. However, in addition to programmatic solutions, CAIRS has introduced this new interpreter education page to our website as a helpful guide to online ASL resources. Obviously, online resources are not a substitute to formal interpreter education, but do provide professional interpreters with useful tools for improving vocabulary and general technical proficiency.
